| Bonnie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art/Music from the University of Maine at Farmington in 1988, after raising her children. She then began to paint professionally, the buildings, landscapes, and seascapes of Maine, either on location or in her studio from photos and memories. Her art is an expression of life as she sees it and feels it through the use of intense color and bold images. Bonnie also went for a brief stay at the Laromita School of Art in Ternie, Italy. There she painted the hill towns of Umbria and some of Tuscany on location. Several years later she also traveled to Scotland to paint on location. Though most of her art has been of the land and sea, she did do a series of children in oil and turpentine wash, and plans on doing another series of people sometime soon. Art and music have always been a passion and a way of life for Bonnie. She had parents who were both artists and she grew up with a paint brush in her hand along side her mother, who was a very realistic watercolor artist. Tucker's parents were divorced when she was a baby and she never met her father. She decided at age 39 to search for him at a time when she was ill with Chronic Fatigue, but was disappointed to learn that he had died ten years earlier of a heart attack. "I did get to meet a half sister who was very kind and shared her memories of our father with me. She also gave me some of his artwork, and strangely enough, he was also an expressionistic painter like myself", she says. Bonnie can be found in her home studio/gallery at 87 Western Ave., Augusta, Maine when she is not painting on location or performing folk music on stage with her husband, Peter. Together they haver recorded 3 CD's on which you can also see some of Bonnie's art work. |
